He was predeceased by: his parents, Charlie Stephens and Sadie Ellen Capps Stephens; his siblings, Floyd Douglas Stephens and Deborah Ellen Stephens; his son Douglas Ray Stephens; and his grandson Zach Hearren.
He is survived by: his wife Deborah Compton Stephens; his children, Martin Edward Stephens of Shepherd, Waco Compton (Elizabeth) of Livingston, Butch Compton of Denver, Colorado, Tina Stephens Hearren (Louis) of Livingston and Pamela Compton of Livingston, Texas; his siblings, Earline Stephens McLeod of Livingston, Texas and Bobby Stephens of Livingston, Texas; his brother-in-law Dale Till of Elkhart, Texas; and his grandchildren, Eric Stephens (Aleashia), Ryan McGarrahan, Dylan Compton, Joey Hearren, Jessica McGarrahan (Colton Quintana), Shannon Compton, Steffani Moser and Heather Stephens Randall. He is also survived by numerous great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews, cousins, and friends.
