He was predeceased by : his parents, John Newman and Maxine Ruth Newman (Haylor); and his former life partner Darlene Newman. He is survived by : his wife Sherri Newman of Livingston, Texas; his sons, Charles Newman, Jr. (Misty Schuetze) of Livingston, Johnny Newman of Livingston, Kevin Newman (Laura) of Ohio, Darrell Newman of Livingston, Mitchell Newman of Livingston and Michael "Dink" Garefalos of Livingston, Texas; his stepchildren, Rabecca Threadgill of Lebanon, Richard Brubaker (Chelsey) of Livingston, Chad Brubaker of Livingston and Travis Brubaker of Livingston, Texas; and his siblings, Patricia Newman of Groves, Texas and David Newman of San Antonio, Texas. He is also survived by 26 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Visitation was held on Thursday, June 13th 2024 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Cochran Funeral Home (406 N Yaupon Ave, Livingston, TX 77351). A funeral service was held on Friday, June 14th 2024 at 10:00 AM at the same location.
