He was predeceased by: his parents, A. J. Nix (Jack) and Juanita Nix (Bacon); and his sister Jackie Graham. He is survived by: his wife Emma L. Shaffer; his children, Clinton (Janet) of Abilene, Texas and Lisa (Lance Powers) of Winter Park, Florida; his grandchildren, Anna Staton of Saigon, Vietnam, Emily Simpson (Adam) of Malden, Massachusetts, Charles Nix of Las Cruces and James Nix of Canberra, Australia.; his great grandchild Eaoin Simpson; his aunts, Jane Verett of California and Judy Walker of Lubbock, Texas; his uncle Don Bacon of Spring Branch, Texas; his nephew Sam Graham of Cedar Park, Texas; his niece Charla Kaye Hart of Austin, Texas; and his child P. O. Box. He is also survived by cousins and other extended family.
Samuel Bacon (Sam) Nix died on November 18, 2020, at a nursing facility in Abilene after a long battle with Parkinson's Disease and dementia.
