He is survived by: his wife Pat; his children, Jami (Joe Monk) of Linden, Lori (Todd Elliott) of Linden and Jason (Brianne Harris) of Atlanta; and his siblings-in-law, E. V. Wilson and LaJuan Harris. He is also survived by "Popa" to his family & he leaves behind 8 grandchildren & 16 great grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations are made in honor of James L. Harris to Samaritan's Purse which was a charity close to his heart. The family greatly appreciates donations made to these charities in James L. Harris 's name.
