He was predeceased by: his parents, Herman Straughter Sr. and Pearl Mitchell Sutton; and his sister Emma Lee Brooks. He is survived by: his wife Lois Straughter; his children, Sam Straughter Jr., Marcus Straughter (Ellen), Sonia Straughter, Kimberly Taylor (Carlos) and Natasha Straughter; his siblings, Herman Straughter Jr. of Beaumont, TX and Kathrine Crockett of Humble, TX; his aunt Kathy Howard of Beaumont, TX; and his stepchildren, Duane Cannon, Brandon Cannon (Shantell) of Pearland, TX, Theresa Cannon, Yvette Ruckett (Herbert), LaTonya Porter (Craig) and Tiffany Little (De'mon) of Humble, TX. He is also survived by 16 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
