He was predeceased by: his parents, Clifton Dwight Freeman and Ellen Eoma McCoy Weaver; his stepfather Tommy Weaver; and his nephew Oakley Chapman. He is survived by: his wife Stacey Freeman of Liberty City; his children, John Freeman, Jr. (Summer) of Liberty City and Miakoda Freeman (Brannigan) of Liberty City; his siblings, Christie "Sissy" Freeman (Ed Conner) of Trinidad and Clifton Freeman (Michelle) of Bullard; his parents-in-law, Ken and Debra Hammond; his sisters-in-law, Mishele Chapman (Terry), Jamie Bishop (Joe) and Amanda Burns (Danny); his nieces and nephews, Justin Petty (Chancie), Aaron Faught, Nicole Harris (Jacob), Tehya Bennett (Ryan), Lane Freeman (Lauren), Ty Freeman, Ashton Chapman, Jaden Harrod, Jace Harrod, Tate Bishop and Matthew Burns; his great-nieces and great-nephews, Justin "Kye", Corbin, Lawson, Ella, Oliver "Ollie", Victoria and Landry; his close friends, Chad, Ashly Jackman, James "Jimmy", Stephanie Evans and Chris Kidd; and also, Chase, Carleigh, Camden, Cora, Chuck, Christi Clinard, Raci Smith, Robert, Lisa Byrd, Duane Smead, Justin Weatherly and Charlie "Chuck" Motes.
