He was predeceased by: his parents, Dial Raney and Florence Raney; and his brother Charles Nolan Raney. He is survived by: his wife Cynthia Raney of Lexington; his sons, James Dial Raney (Deborah) of Austin, Lewis Dean Raney (Chrissy) of Georgetown, Brion Pierce Raney (Lori) of Houston, Nolan Pierce Raney (Megan) of Austin and Garrett Charles Raney; and his sister Synthia Ann Gorrell (John "Butch") of Whitney. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Christopher House, 2820 East Martin Luther King Jr.
