William Andrew (Andy) Haskell Obituary

On the 2nd of February 2020 William Andrew (Andy) Haskell suffered a heart attack at his home in Lewisville, TX and passed peacefully at the age of 51. He spent the last moments of his life enjoying the Super Bowl with his beloved wife Dana Bennett.

Andy was born November 4th, 1968 in Omaha, NE and grew up in Papillion, NE. His father, John Haskell, was a schoolteacher and football coach, and his mother, Janice Haskell, was a social worker. Together they raised Andy in a loving home with his two brothers David and James.

Andy graduated from Papillion-La Vista High in 1987, where he exceled in academics, football, basketball and music. In 1991 he earned a B.S. in Accounting and Finance from the University of Nebraska at Kearney. Throughout high school and college, Andy was active leader in the Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA), touching the hearts of countless young men and women.

Andy immediately went to work for a small accounting firm in Minden, NE where he earned his Certified Public Accountant (CPA), served as a volunteer firefighter, and coached Legion baseball. In 1994 Andy transitioned from public accounting to the private sector of corporate accounting, accepting a position with Terra Industries in Sioux City, IA. While living in the Sioux City area, Andy umpired in his spare time and volunteered as a Big Brother for less fortunate children. In 2001 Andy accepted a position in Texas as an Area Controller with United Agri Products. Settling in Texas he continued to umpire children’s baseball and went on to work for Dean Foods and Saputo. Saputo hired Andy in 2012 as a Senior Costing Manager and in 2017 promoted him to Director of Finance for US Plant Operations where he worked until his untimely death. Andy was known for his positive attitude and eagerness to invest personal time mentoring subordinates, peers and even seniors.

Andy left a legacy of great friends and lasting relationships everywhere he went and was loved by so many. In 2010, Andy met and fell in love with Dana Bennett. They married on May 16th, 2015, and spent their years together living life to its fullest.

Andy’s interests included fellowship with family and friends, Nebraska Football, Ranger’s Baseball, good beer, good food, hiking and spending time with the family dogs. Andy’s love however, was sharing every moment with his cherished wife Dana.

Andy is survived by his wife Dana Bennett of Lewisville, TX, his brother David and David’s wife Natalie and their three children, Matthew, Sophia, and Isabella, of Severna Park, MD, and his brother James and his two children, Andrew and Averie, of Lewisville, TX.

Andy was preceded in death by his father John Deforest Haskell, and mother Janice Marie Haskell.

Andy’s life exuded love, and he didn’t hesitate to share it with everyone around him. We are all better people for knowing and loving Andy. We mourn his death, honor his life, and rejoice in his everlasting life in Heaven.

“Andy touched the lives of many. Know that he was a positive striving force in my life and many others. He had a great taste in beer, and shared my passion for technology that empowered me to be a nerd. That its okay to be a nerd, "Just know your stuff." His sense of humor and laugh was contagious. Life may seem a little dim right now. But I'm certain his spirit wants you to push forward. To live more and work less. To love, and live. God's love be with you all.”
