He was predeceased by: his parents, Kenneth Sawyer and Bernice Sawyer; and his children, Barney Sawyer and Teresa Sawyer. He is survived by: his wife Eddie Mae Sawyer; his daughters, Jeanie Piekarski (Lee) of The Woodlands and Joy Huizar (Charles) of Pampa; and his grandchildren, TeJay Steele (Sarah) of San Jose, Michael Steele (Amber) of Lakeway, Bradley Sawyer (Kylie), Jared Piekarski (McKenzie) of Wichita, Franky Steele of Austin, Johnny Reagan (Christina) of Lefors and Gatlin Reagan of Amarillo. He is also survived by nine great grandchildren.
