He was predeceased by: his parents, Joseph A. Russo and Mary Carillo Russo; his wife Viva Russo; and his siblings, Jennie Macaluso, Philomena Wilder, Emily Garcia, Ida Crutchfield, Thomas Russo, Vincent Russo and Joseph Russo Sr..

He is survived by: his niece Cindy Bryant; his nephew Joseph Russo Jr.; his children, Robyn Fitzpatrick (David) and John Russo, Jr. (Leslie); his grandchildren, Colllin Fitzpatrick, Faith Fitzpatrick, Taylor Russo, Dalton Russo and Dylan Russo; and his sister Margaret Marinelli. He is also survived by many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
