With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of Maria Mercedes Castillo (Laredo, Texas), whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on December 13, 2024 at the age of 92. Though Maria Mercedes may no longer walk beside us, her memory will forever be enshrined in the fabric of the lives of those Maria Mercedes touched, a beacon of light guiding us through the darkness. In her absence, her spirit lives on — a gentle whisper in the breeze, a ray of sunlight on a cloudy day, a reminder that love knows no boundaries.
She was predeceased by: her husband Luis Castillo; and her son Juan Castillo. She is survived by: her children, Leticia Quintana (Raul), Ramiro Castillo (Guadalupe) and Eduardo Castillo. She is also survived by her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Monday, December 16th 2024 from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM at the Joe Jackson Heights Funeral & Cremation Service (719 N Loring Ave, Laredo, TX 78040). A rosary was held on Monday, December 16th 2024 from 7:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the same location. A funeral service was held on Tuesday, December 17th 2024 at 9:00 AM at the Joe Jackson Heights Funeral Chapels (719 N Loring Ave, Laredo, TX 78040). A Mass was held on Tuesday, December 17th 2024 from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM at the St. Joseph Catholic Church (109 N Meadow Ave, Laredo, TX 78040). A burial was held on Tuesday, December 17th 2024 from 10:45 AM to 11:00 AM at the Calvary Catholic Cemetery (3600 McPherson Rd, Laredo, TX 78040).
