He was predeceased by: his parents, Fernando Mendez and Carmen Mendez; his grandson Jason Kory Wilburn; his sisters, Olga Flores and Mary Gutierrez; his niece Melissa Gutierrez; and his nephew Eddie McCoy.
He is survived by: his children, Carmen Sultan, Rosario B. Holmen, Fernando Jesus Mendez II (Allicia), Sonia Alejandra Garza III (Raul), Marco Antonio Lozano (Adriana) and Ashley Nicole Ramirez (Adrian Rodriguez); and his sister Guadalupe "Cupi" McCoy. He is also survived by 18 grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren, mother of his children as well as other relatives, and friends.
Visitation was held on Wednesday, January 8th 2025 from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM at the Joe Jackson North Funeral & Cremation Services (1410 Jacaman Rd, Laredo, TX 78041). A rosary was held on Wednesday, January 8th 2025 from 7:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the same location. A funeral service was held on Thursday, January 9th 2025 at 8:30 AM at the Joe Jackson North Funeral Chapels (1410 Jacaman Rd, Laredo, TX 78041). A Mass was held on Thursday, January 9th 2025 from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM at the Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church (1718 San Jorge Ave, Laredo, TX 78040). A burial was held on Thursday, January 9th 2025 at the Laredo Cemetery (3200 N Meadow Ave, Laredo, TX 78040).
