He was predeceased by: his parents, Rodney H. Amidon and Dorothy Bird Amidon; his son Jason R. Amidon; his grandson Julian Amidon; and his brother Rodney L. "Winkey" Amidon.

He is survived by: his wife Sharon Stockman; his children, Lucas M. Amidon and Lauren L. Jackson; and his siblings, Kenneth "Kenny" Amidon (Rene), Randy Amidon (Vickie), Judy Amidon Meredith (David) and Donna Amidon Kelley. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
