He was predeceased by: his son James Edward Cummins; his parents, Willie Cummins and Lena Rhymes Cummins; and his sisters, Evelyn Daman, Alice Cummins and Billie "BJ" Cummins.
He is survived by: his children, Kevin Lee Cummins (D'ann), Jamie Leon Cummins (Lyndsay) and Rebecca Lynn Vasquez (Vincent); and his sisters, Sandra Blake (David) and Barbra "Suzy" Donaldson. He is also survived by 8 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital or any Cancer Center in his memory.
