Bill Taggart wrote a sympathy message

“On behalf of myself and the entire 1st Battalion 83rd Artillery (with whom James served in Vietnam) I want to express our deepest condolences to Mrs. Briggs and the family of James. Jamie was with the 1/83rd in 68-69 while I was with the unit inn 1966-67. Because of that I never had the opportunity to meet and know him. However, after reading his obituary I am in awe of his many life-long accomplishments. Jamie will be remembered by his brothers in the 1/83rd. Lest We Forget. Bill Taggart 1/83rd”
