Hairston; her siblings, Tommie Lee Summers (Sam Summers) of Rockdale, Texas and Billy Stewart (Carolyn) of Dallas, Texas.; her son Randall Charles Hairston (Melinda Hairston) of Bastrop, Texas.; her grandsons, Jordan Brown Hairston (Lauren Hairston) of Gainesville, Texas, Cameron Cole Hairston (Krystal Hairston) of Gainesville, Texas, Hunter William Hairston (Bernadette Hairston) of San Antonio, Texas, Connor Charles Hairston of Bastrop, Texas, Jeremy Tucker (Susie Tucker) of Bastrop and Scott Tucker of Bastrop, Texas.; her great grandchildren, Bailey Lee Hairston and Lily Marie Hairston of Gainesville, Texas.; and her brother Charles Harris Stewart (Shirley Stewart) of Humble.
After helping Robert build a foundation at Central Freight, she would move on to her 22-year career serving as the secretary to the principal, Mr. Bill Hammet, for the Lampasas School District, retiring in 1992.
