Drexel D. Gilstrap Sr. Obituary
Born September 3, 1958, to Faye Elizabeth (Lee) Gilstrap & Walter Dee Gilstrap Sr. of Lampasas Texas. Drexel passed away April 18th in El Paso, Texas.
Drexel is survived by his wife, Donna Gilstrap; daughter, Tawnya (Gilstrap) Branscum & sons, Drexel Gilstrap, Jr. & Dalton Gilstrap. Drexel is also survived by his two brothers, Walter Dee Gilstrap, Jr. of Abilene, Texas & Kelley Dee Gilstrap of Angleton, Texas. He is also survived by three (3) grandchildren, Gaven Branscum, Garit Branscum, Landon Gilstrap & numerous nieces & nephews. Drexel was preceded in death by Walter D Gilstrap, Sr., Faye Elizabeth (Lee) Gilstrap & sister, Donna Faye Gilstrap.
Drexel grew up in Lampasas attending Lampasas High School. He joined the United States Army in 1975, serving with the 101st Airbourne Division at Fort Campbell, Kentucky. After finishing his military career, Drexel went off on various adventures before becoming a nurse and working at Abilene Regional Hospital as an ER Trauma Nurse. Drexel, Donna & Dalton moved to Pecos, Texas in 2009 after his retirement from nursing. Drexel was associated with the NRA, Wounded Warriors Projects, and St Jude. He enjoyed playing golf, hunting, fishing & camping.
Viewing will be held at 5 p.m., April 21st at the Morehart Mortuary in Albany, Texas. Funeral services will be held April 22nd at 11 a.m. at 8603 US Hwy 283, Albany, Texas.
