He was predeceased by: his parents, James Wilbur "Whit" Lanier and Gordia Mae Lanier (Howard); his wife Elaine Cunningham Lanier; his son Michael Andrew Lanier; and his siblings, Mary Lucille Dover, Ruby Goff Sutton and Royce L. Lanier.
He is survived by: his children, Mark, Jim, Steve Lanier, Cathy McAlister, Mary Dunning and Carol Woodruff. He is also survived by eight grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews and their children.
