He was predeceased by: his parents, James Chester Mitchell and Myrle Mitchell (Wade). He is survived by: his daughter Donna McCallister (Travis) of Lubbock; his siblings, Laura Robason (Michael) of Lamesa and Jerry Mitchell (Patty) of Coahoma; and his grandson Chase McCallister of Lubbock.

In lieu of flowers the family is requesting donations be made to Dal Paso Museum 125 Main Ave., Lamesa, Texas 79331.
