We are sad to announce that on March 29, 2024, at the age of 90, Ershel Bird of Lamesa, Texas, born in OBrien, Texas passed away. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

He was predeceased by: his parents, Everett Bird and Elizabeth Bird (Nicholson); his wife Betty Jo Bird (Davenport); his daughter Beth Bird; and his siblings, W. A. Bird, Charles Bird and Anne Williams.

He is survived by: his daughter Luci Jo Birdsong (Brad); and his granddaughters, Elissa of Lubbock and Shelby of Lubbock.

“My deepest sympathy to the family of my friend, Mr. Bird. I was fresh out of college and a new teacher at Posey Elementary when I first met Mr. Bird. He taught 6th grade and I taught 5th grade students. Having a passion for music and we presented several musicals together. He was a shining example of what a Christian man should be. He and Betty were notified that Luci would be there daughter on the day my husband and I married. He made an impact on my life. Linda King”
