He was predeceased by: his parents, David Elmer "D. E." and Ilene Hope Sumrow (Fleming); his wife Billye Frank; his son Rex Gibbs Sumrow; and his siblings, Bernice Duke, Belle Harris, Jo Thomas, Floyd Sumrow and Don Sumrow.
He is survived by: his daughter Bevalynn Sumrow of Lubbock; his brother Bobby Ray Sumrow of Amarillo; his grandchildren, Heath Sumrow (Deann) of Levelland, Justin Sumrow of Seminole, April Neal (Zane) of Kermit, Natalie White (Randy) of McKinney and Maisie Dickerson of Austin; and his daughter-in-law Karon Sumrow. He is also survived by nine great grandchildren.
