“Mrs. Evans was my French teacher at BHS. She was kind, generous, and inspiring. She said she had rushed through UT and regretted it, telling us to enjoy our college experience. She took the time to get to know each of us, and she encouraged our interests by loaning us books. I still remember her beautiful handwriting on the board, as graceful and lovely as she. She was too modest to claim to have influenced us, but this one became a teacher partly on account of her, and I cherish her memory.”
