He was predeceased by: his parents, Melville Eugene Thompson, Sr. and Carmen Cunningham Thompson; his brother James Thompson; and his son Phillip Scott Thompson. He is survived by: his wife June Thompson of Tyler; his children, Tommie Jean Wood of Garland and Bryan; his daughter-in-law Stephanie Thompson of Missouri; and his grandchildren, Karen Wood, Kelley Wood, Travis Wood, Lauren Minor (Travis), Jake Thompson and Tyler Thompson. He is also survived by five great-grandchildren.
