He was predeceased by: his parents, Morgan Oliver Shields and Dorothy Newcomb Shields; his siblings, Morgan Richard Shields, Susan Campbell and Margaret Johnson; and his grandparents, James Wilton Shields, Lulu Hieronymus Shields, Horace Gillis Newcomb and Lulu Ethel Seaman Newcomb.
He is survived by: his wife Esther Shields; his children, David Lynn Shields (Leigh) and Gayle Laroux (Joe); his grandchildren, Keaton, Brandon and Megan; and his brother Norman Shields (Betty). He is also survived by 3 Great Grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.
