He was predeceased by: his wife Charlean Carpenter Gaubatz; his parents, Elisa Wehring Gaubatz and John Gaubatz; his siblings, Lavern Pollock and Sterling Gaubatz; and his stepson Robert Gardner.
He is survived by: his children, Elisa Gaubatz Carter (Michael Carter) and Royce Aaron Gaubatz (Rebecca Gaubatz); his stepson Stephen Charles Gardner (Julie Gardner); his sister Violet Vacek; and his grandchildren, Sydney (Kole), Matthew, Wyatt, Corey and Hailey. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
