He was predeceased by: his parents, James Brooks, and Verna Mae Brooks, Sr.; his son Alvist Zimbalist Brooks (Lobo); his siblings, James Brooks, Jr., Carl Brooks, Sr., Dorothy Louise Williams and Anabel Campbell; and his great grandchild Dante Sutton.
He is survived by: his wife Barbara Brooks; his children, Samuel Brooks (Jackie), Oscar Brooks, Jr., Terry Brooks, Annie Brooks-Bush (Tommy), Shelia Cleveland (Keith) and Sarah Washington (Steven); his brothers, Charles Brooks (Inez), Benny Brooks, Sr. and Kenneth Brooks, Sr. (Judy); and his sisters-in-law, Maxine Baines, Lillie Marie Brooks, Annie Mae Taylor and Linda Brooks. He is also survived by twelve grandchildren; fifteen great grandchildren, two great great grandchildren.
Visitation was held on Friday, November 22nd 2024 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Finch Funeral Chapel (13767 US Hwy 87 E, Adkins, TX 78121). A funeral service was held on Saturday, November 23rd 2024 at 10:00 AM at the same location.
