He was predeceased by: his parents, Claude Smith and Teddie Mae Smith. He is survived by: his wife Bettie Dietrich Smith; his children, Cindy Coleman (Corky), Susan Joy Lee (Bob), Patti Webel (Paul), Gary E. Smith Jr. (Kathryn), Ronald J. Smith (Cindi) and Carl W. Smith (Sandy); and his grandchildren, Cody Coleman (Stephanie), Cecily Byrom (Cody), Holly Story (Cade), Ashlea Lehman (Michael), Kelly Reisdorph (Taylor), Kelsey Parker (Jace), Justin Smith (Kyli), Tyler Smith, Brandon Smith, Cory Wayne Smith (Jenny), Troy Evans Smith and Ryan Lee. He is also survived by 20 great-grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces, nephews.
