Kathy Lee Berthold Obituary

Kathy Berthold was born in Uvalde, Texas, February 19, 1951 to Howard Doyle Pedigo and Novella Pearl Johnson Pedigo. Passed from this to the next life December 28, 2021 in San Angelo. She was the second of two children. They moved from Uvalde to Crystal City in 1952. She was a 1969 graduate of Crystal City High School. After high school she went to Southwest Texas Junior College in Uvalde where she took a nine month secretarial course. She then worked at Zavalla County Bank. Kathy was baptized in the Crystal City Church of Christ by Floyd Brookmole on April 30, 1970 and was faithful to the Lord unto death.

In November 1976 she met the love of her life, Frank Berthold. They were introduced by mutual friends Alvin and Maurine Morris when Frank was running a ranch for Fred Winston of Alice. Their first date came right after Thanksgiving that year. It was to see the movie "Gus" in Carrizo Springs. Two weeks after that Frank popped the question and asked her to marry him. It wasn't until January that she said, "Yes.". They were married on Good Friday, April 8, 1977. To their union was born two sons; Frankie Lee Berthold and Joshua Neal Berthold.

While living in La Pryor Kathy worked as an aid in the La Pryor Independent School District. Kathy went back to Southwest Texas Junior College in Uvalde and began work on a teaching certificate. She attended Sul Ross State University in Uvalde and finished in Midland and graduated with a "Lifetime" teaching certificate in Secondary Education while living in Ackerly and attending in Midland. Upon graduation she was awarded her Bachelor Degree at Alpine, Texas. She was a member of the Chadbourne North Church of Christ.

Kathy is survived by her husband Frank; her two sons, Frankie (Susan) of Hempstead Maryland and Joshua of San Angelo. A granddaughter; Katelynn Nichole Berthold of Hempstead and a grandson; Austin James Berthold of Hempstead. Also surviving is her sister Linda Templer of Carrizo Springs; sister-in-law Gloria (Richard) Smith of Ingleside; brother-in-law Robert (Dee) Berthold of Orange Grove; sister-in-law Janice Berthold of Kerrville. Nephew William (Sharon) Templer of Carrizo Springs niece Sharon (Mark) of Carrizo springs.

Also a Great-nephew James Templer and a great-niece Megan Templer, as well as her mother-in-law Neda Westbrook of Corpus Christi. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother-in-law Robert Frazier.
