He was predeceased by: his parents, Robert Richard Thornton, Sr. and Doris Smith Thornton. He is survived by: his wife Cynthia Edwards Thornton; his children, Robert Richard Thornton III (Rob) and Amber Michele Thornton; his grandchildren, Elijah Hudson Stein and Savannah Dorise Stein; and his sisters, Sharon Thornton Baker (Robert) and Terry Lynn Thornton (Jim Richardson). He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews, and all his friends.
