It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Lester Eugene Hovey of La Porte, Texas, who passed away on January 1, 2025, at the age of 91, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Clara Hovey and J. W. Hovey; his sister Gladys Ford; his wife Janet Meiners Hovey; his daughter Sandy Westergren; and his brother-in-law Lonnie Meiners.
He is survived by: his siblings, Julian, Wesley, Wayne and Royce Hovey; his children, Sheryl Homick (Jerry) and Richard Hovey (Linda); his grandchildren, Sheralyn Irwin (Chris), Spencer Chilson (Morgan), Krystle Hammers (Edward), Eric Westergren (Brittany), Ryan Hovey (Larissa) and Kyle Hovey; his great grandchildren, Christian, Savannah Irwin, Addison, Rya, Archer Hammers, Ava and Ben Westergren; and his sisters-in-law, Jean Ponder Cervantes (George), Patti Meiners, Betty Hovey and Virginia Hovey.
Visitation was held on Thursday, January 9th 2025 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Clayton Funeral Home (201 S 3rd St, La Porte, TX 77571). A funeral service was held on Friday, January 10th 2025 at 1:00 PM at the Porte Community Church (202 S 1st St, La Porte, TX 77571). A graveside service was held on Friday, January 10th 2025 at the Grandview Memorial Park/Bethany Cemetery (8501 Spencer Hwy, Pasadena, TX 77505).
