He was predeceased by: his parents, John Frank and Mary D. Pursley; his brother Kenneth Pursley; his brother-in-law John E. Childs; and his nephews, Gary Childs and Johnny Childs, Jr..
He is survived by: his wife Sandra; his children, Amy Potter (Andy), Jeremy Pursley (Deasy) and Andrew Pursley (Bibi); his stepson Stephen McGee; and his sisters, Frankie Moon (Don) and Martha Childs. He is also survived by seven grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild.
