He was predeceased by: his parents, James Clay Steely Jr. (Don) and Peggy Rhea Steely of Woodville, TX.. He is survived by: his wife Pam Steely; his sons, Kevin Don Steely (Teresa Navarro Steely), Carson Clay Steely, Christian J. Garza and Aaron Z. Garza (Brandon E. Garza); his sister Donna Kay; his brother-in-law Richard Adrian; his daughter Mary M. Steely; and his goddaughter Kimberly Schwamb.
The family wishes for memorial contributions to be made in his name to the American Heart Association.
