He was predeceased by: his parents, Albert O. Gerdes and Ruby Lee Gerdes; and his son Gregg Gerdes. He is survived by: his wife Karen Gerdes; his sons, Mark Lloyd (Ann) and James Lloyd (Olga); and his siblings, Garnett Gerdes (Mary), Gail Gerdes Harden (Bob) and Sandra Lee Gerdes Leatherwood (Steve). He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
