He was predeceased by: his wife Pearl Plagens; his mother Lillie Plagens; and his siblings, Alma Veazey, Ralph Plagens, Fred Plagens, Curtis Plagens and Harry Plagens.
He is survived by: his sons, Michael Plagens, Gary Plagens and Daryl Plagens (Sherrie); his grandchildren, Kalyn Mejias, Kadee Arhlett, Madeline Plagens and Lilly Plagens; and his sisters, Irene Gosney and Evelyn Williams. He is also survived by four great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, the family request that memorials be made to Hospice Brazos Valley or Reliance Baptist Church.
