He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Doc Leon Phillips and Fannie Mae Paulk Phillips; his wife Pat Henry of Krum; his children, Debbie Grimes of Krum, Ricky of Krum and Ronnie Phillips of Krum; and his siblings, Shirley Barringer of Mesquite, Troy Lee Phillips of Garland, Doc Leon Phillips, Jr. of Pleasant Grove and Bill Cole of Atlanta, Texas. He was also cherished by 6 grandchildren and 10 grandchildren.
