He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, William Whitener and Bessie Whitener; his daughter Sharon Dale Whitener Ramsey (Jason); his wife Phyliss McGowen Whitener; and his stepchildren, Cheryl Leblanc, Lynzie Boudreaux, Mark, Rollenda McGowen, Ellen Shaheen, Harry, Dr. Lezlie Cantrell and Jack. He was also cherished by 10 step grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren.
