He was predeceased by: his parents, Jose Herrera and Marta Herrera; his sister Marcela Martinez; his grandparents, Victoriano and Martina Melendrez; his grandson Jaime Amado Perez; and his son-in-law David Garcia.
He is survived by: his wife Irma Herrera (Kingsville); his former wife Mary Lou Herrera; his children, Carmel Herrera (Paulo Ortiz) of Corpus Christi, Roberto Herrera (Elvia) of St. Paul, Monica Garcia (late David Garcia) of St. Paul, Michelle Garcia (Julio) of Kingsville, Adrianne Whitaker (Chad) of North Carolina, Clarissa Dunnahoo (Tony) of Corpus Christi and Valentin Herrera, Jr. (Angel Mireles) of Kingsville; and his sister Julia Herrera of Sinton. He is also survived by twenty two grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren.
