He was predeceased by: his parents, Juan Zavala and Juanita Zavala; his grandparents, Juan, Clementina Zavala, Canuto and Paulita Trevino; and his brother Juan Zavala III.

He is survived by: his wife Juana Zavala; his children, April and Sebastian; and his siblings, Roberto Zavala (Diana), Ramon Zavala (Mary), Daniel Zavala (Norma), Gerardo Zavala (Aimee), Maria Inez Acosta (Gilbert), Graciela Munoz (Darrel), Margarita Soliz (Johnny) and Idolina Cortez (Celedonio). He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews and many cousins.
