He was predeceased by: his wife Tomasita S. Vega. He is survived by: his children, Jesus Vega Jr. (Ivana) of Mathis, Mateo J. Vega of Robstown, Velinda Vega of Sweet Water, Jo Ann Castillo Vega (Erica) of Robstown and Brenda Vega of Corpus Christi; and his siblings, Mateo Vega of Fort Worth, Evangelina Gonzalez of Corpus Christi, Esperanza Vega of Corpus Christi and Juanita Vega of Houston. He is also survived by twenty-four grandchildren; and sixteen great-grandchildren.
