He was predeceased by: his parents, Alejandro and Antonia. He is survived by: his wife Maria "Connie" Leal; his sons, Ernest Jr. (Nancy), Eddie (Heather) and Joe De Leon; his granddaughters, Anna, Sara and Alejandra; his daughters-in-law, Nancy (Furlow) and Heather (Robertson); and his grandchild Bear. He is also survived by his three brothers and many nieces and nephews.
Due to the pandemic, there will be a small private service.
