She was predeceased by: her parents, Rafael Cuellar and Teresa Cuellar; her husband Reynaldo Vela; her son Joe Vela; her grandchildren, Michael Bustoz and Tavin Parker; her siblings, Rafael Cuellar, Jr. and Estella; and her son-in-law Jesse Sanchez.
She is survived by: her children, Uvaldo Vela (Josie), Norma Robles (Moe), Ellie Jimenez, Susana Trevino (Sam) and Reynaldo Vela, Jr. (Denise Lopez); and her siblings, Lupita Cuellar, Johnny Cuellar (Eva) and Gloria Garcia (Ramiro). She is also survived by 12 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family.
