He was predeceased by: his parents, Domingo Benavides and Eloisa Benavides; and his siblings, Alvaro, David and Irma Wiggins.
He is survived by: his wife Hyon Suk; his daughter Ulrike (Mike Janzou); and his siblings, Abelardo (Rosie) and Aurora Stephenson. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, grandchildren, and cousins.
