He is survived by: his children, Jackie Hays, Brenda Helgren (James), Valerie Aho and Vernon Smith (Monique); and his sister Mary Sue Dubose (Weeks). He is also survived by 17 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; 5 great-great grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews.
