She was predeceased by: her parents, Henry C. and Nannie B. Barnett; and her sisters, Hazel Shepherd and Alice Hardee. She is survived by: her husband Royce Ashberry; her sons, Henry L. McCarty of Liberty City, Johnny R. McCarty of Longview and Malcom K. Myers of Longview; and her sister Ellen Whitten Sartor of Kilgore. She is also survived by seven grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
