He was predeceased by: his parents, John "Red" Shafer and Edith Shafer. He is survived by: his daughters, Danielle Denbow (Jimi Denbow) of Corsicana and Allison Shafer of Grand Junction, Colorado.; his grandchildren, Kelsey Lee of Corsicana, Texas, Mallory Lee of Corsicana, Texas, Tyler and Austin Denbow of Corsicana, Texas; his great grandchild Ezra Howard; and his brothers, John Shafer of Kilgore, Cris Shafer (Trina) of Kilgore and Aladdin Shafer (Susan) of Kilgore. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, grandchildren, and cousins.
Visitation was held on Friday, November 29th 2024 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Rader Funeral Home (401 N Martin St, Kilgore, TX 75662). A funeral service was held on Saturday, November 30th 2024 at 3:00 PM at the same location. A burial was held on Saturday, November 30th 2024 from 4:00 PM to 4:30 PM at the Danville Cemetery (200 Memorial St, Kilgore, TX 75662).
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Kilgore High School or Mildred High School Bass Clubs in honor of Richard's favorite pastime.
