He was predeceased by: his parents, Lindsey Highsmith and Vernadean Highsmith (Casebolt); his siblings, Charles Highsmith, Peggy Howell and Sherry Jackson; and his grandson Justin LaFour.
He is survived by: his wife Linda Highsmith (LeSaout); his children, Carey (Blane Deaton) and Sammie Jr. (Shelley Highsmith); his brothers, Jackie (Susan Highsmith) and Ken (Alicia Jeffers); his grandchildren, Jessica (Michael Martinez), Sammie Highsmith III, Ryan Highsmith and Jordan LaFour; and his great grandchild ZoeyJane Martinez. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
