He was predeceased by: his parents, Bennie Benson and Mamie Benson; his wife Ruby Harrison; and his children, Gwendolyn Jackson, Nathan "Nate" Benson and Augusta "Gus" Benson.
He is survived by: his daughter Cynthia Benson Skeins; his grandchildren, Jermaine Rodriguez, Coty Watson, Trina Rodriguez, Monique Jackson, Christopher Rodriguez, Tierra Adams, Mendell and Marcell Jackson; and his daughter-in-law Sylvie Rodriguez. He is also survived by 22 great-grandchildren.
