He was predeceased by: his parents, William Burnham and Louise Burnham; and his son Kevin Franklin. He is survived by: his wife Beverly Burnham; his children, Jason Burnham, Shannon Montero (Melanie Bolin), Ronald Franklin and Rebecca Franklin; his grandchildren, Stephanie Avery (James Avery), Sarah Fredrick-Rogers (Jeremy Fredrick-Rogers), Andrew Nitchman (Lauren Nitchman), Cameron, Will, Abbie, Ragan, Mason, Daisy, Ryan, Brandon and Kelsey; his sister-in-law Sheryl Allred (Jimmy Allred); his child Whitnee Fenwick (J. J. Fenwick); his niece Linda Musmecci (Gary) of Midlothian; his great-niece Gina (Luis); his friend Gene Bullard (Bobbie Bullard); and also Jarod Allred (April Allred).

In lieu of flowers, Richard loved animals so donations can be made to ASPCA in his honor or any charity of choice.
