He was predeceased by: his parents, Bertran Brown and Opal Lee Covin Brown; his wife Melinda McCown; his son Herbert Ray; and his sister Linda Warren.

He is survived by: his sister Barbara Sue Jones (Jeff) of Excelsior Springs, MO.; his children, Bradley Ray, Benny Mac, Brian Russell, Malinda Beth Lyle of Kerens and Penny Lee Reagan (George) of Kerens; his grandchildren, Brandy Jenkins, Sandy Patterson (Patrick), Jennifer Stinson (Marcus), Jacob Brown (Sandra), Charlie Raney (Henry), Amber Digman (Justin), Kristal Johnson, Meagan Brown and Brianna Randall (Mario); and his great grandchildren, Justin Jenkins, Justin Digman and Henry Raney. He is also survived by 14 great grandchildren and 5 great great grandchildren.
