He was predeceased by: his parents, Charles Lovelace Steed and Minnie Maude English Steed; his wives, Ruth Steed and Hudell Steed; and his siblings, Cloyce, Marcus, Mack, Lacy Steed, Margaret Williams, Mozelle Warren and Dona Sue Curry.

He is survived by: his children, Nancy Smith (Jimmy) of Kennard, Rana Jones of Crockett, Jennifer Currie (Tony) of Kennard, Ray Dudley Steed, Jr. and Sonya McMillian of Ratcliff; his grandchildren, Matthew Crowe (Tracy) of Kennard, Sam Crowe (Janna) of Kennard, Ruth Anne Phillips (J. P.) of Jefferson, Barrett Steed (Kelly) of Crockett, Gaston Jones (Celeste) of Austin, Ashley Hardin (Shane) of Kennard and Daniel Cook of Huntsville; his great grandchildren, Jacy, Emily Crowe, Lacy Green (Eric), Bethany Crowe, Ava, Annabella Phillips, Michael, Lorelei Hardin, Dacre and Declan Jones; his great great grandchild Avery Ruth Green; his sister JoAnne Holcomb of Crockett; and his brother-in-law Jimmy McCelvey (Patsy) of Marshall. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
